The Writer's Right

It’s all about the accent in Bah-ston.

So my parents and I, and Murphy, Duke and Manny, went to a Pug Social in Spencer, MA yesterday. It was put on by the Pug Rescue of New England and it’s a neat event. There were contests and vendors and games and such for the pugs. It was a beautiful days and the boys all had fun. They slept the whole way home and were out cold even at home.

One of the events was “PUGcasso Art”. They put paint on the pugs’ paws and let them paint. Or in theory, this was what they were supposed to do. Murphy and Duke HATED it. They hate anything on their paws anyway so it was torture. So we did a quick painting and the boys decided they were not aspiring artists and that was just fine.

However, the funny part is when it was Manny’s turn (Manny, it turns out, is very artistic - look out Jackson Pollack) the girl asked what colors we wanted. We told her pink and blue.

“Do you want regular blue or spackled blue?“ Huh? Spackled? Sounds interesting. So I said, “Sure, spackled blue sounds great.“ My mom laughed and said to me, “I think she meant sparkled blue. She just has a Boston accent.“ DUH! Hee hee….

Oh well. I love that Bah-ston accent. I guess it traveled all the way down to Spen-sah.
